Fair play: what are the rules of bumping?
4 min read · Updated
The short version
Bumping is a swap, so every server must show the adverts it receives. Keep your bump channel visible, leave adverts where they are, bump by hand or with Premium auto bump, and advertise only your own server. OneBump checks this by itself and warns you first.
- Your members must be able to see your bump channel, all the time.
- Leave adverts up for at least 24 hours.
- No scripts or macros. Premium auto bump is the allowed way.

Why are there rules?
OneBump is free because it is The deal behind bumping: you show other servers’ adverts, and they show yours.. Your advert is shown in other servers, and their adverts are shown in yours. If some servers take the advertising and show nothing back, it stops working for everyone. OneBump calls keeping to this fair play.
What are the rules?
- Keep your bump channel visible. Your members must be able to see it and read its history: View Channel and Create Invite. Do not open it only while you bump.
- Leave adverts where they are for at least 24 hours. Do not delete them, and do not clear the channel with a purge bot.
- Let OneBump work. Do not time it out. Do not remove it after a bump and add it back later.
- No automated bumping. No macros, scripts or self-bots. If you want bumps without typing, that is what Premium OneBump bumps your server for you every hour, so nobody has to type. (Premium) is for.
- Advertise the server you are in. Your advert must lead to the server that bumped. Do not use several small servers to send people to one big one.
- Be honest. No scams, no fake giveaways, no made-up member counts. Mark adult servers 18+.
One advert you do not want?
Press More under it and hide it. Up to 5 a week is always fine. Read how to hide an advert.
How does OneBump check?
- It looks at your bump channel’s permissions every time you bump, and again when they change.
- It notices a channel that is opened just before a bump and hidden again after.
- It checks now and then that adverts it delivered are still there.
- It notices when it is timed out or removed straight after a bump.
- It looks at the timing of bumps. People are a little irregular. Scripts are not.
- It compares owners and adverts to find groups of servers that are run as one. A moderator confirms before anything happens.
What happens if a server breaks the rules?
Every server has a How your server is doing on fair play: Good standing, First warning, Limited, Paused or Under review.. It moves down one step at a time, and back up by itself. The website uses the five names below.
| Standing | What it means |
|---|---|
| ✅ Good standing | Everything looks fair. Your bumps go to the full number of servers. |
| ⚠️ First warning | OneBump found something that breaks fair play. Nothing has changed for you yet. Fix it and it fades by itself. |
| ⚠️ Limited | Your bumps reach half as many servers until the issue fades. |
| ⏸️ Paused | Bumping is paused for a set time and starts again by itself. After the pause your bumps reach half as many servers until the issue fades. You can ask for a review. The first pause lasts 24 hours, the second 3 days, later ones 7 days. |
| ⏸️ Under review | Bumping is paused for 7 days and a OneBump moderator looks at your server. They can end the pause sooner. After the pause your bumps reach half as many servers until the issue fades. |
In Discord, /info server says the same five things in its own words, from “Good (full number of servers)” to “Paused until …: OneBump is checking this server”. Read where your server stands for both lists side by side.
What OneBump noticed counts for less as time passes: half as much after 14 days, and nothing after 60 days. For serious or repeated cheating, a moderator can remove a server from OneBump. That is called a network ban. A check by itself never removes a server. A person decides.
What does not count against me?
A broken setting is not cheating. If OneBump cannot post in your channel, it tells you what to change and bumping works again as soon as you fix it. Two things have a time limit: without Create Invite for OneBump, bumping pauses after 3 days. And if your AutoMod removes adverts, your channel is set aside for a day at a time.
An age-restricted bump channel does not stop a bump either. OneBump only tells an admin that members under 18 cannot see the adverts in it.
How do I see where my server stands?
Type /info server. The line Fair play says it. When something was noticed, admins also get a See why button: it lists what was noticed and how to fix each thing.
What if OneBump got it wrong?
OneBump does not post what it decided where every member can read it. Your server gets a message called “A message for this server’s admins”, with a Read it button. When someone with the Manage Server permission presses it, the news opens for them alone. Anyone else is told “Only admins can read this”.
To disagree, press Ask for a review on what opens. Say what you think is wrong and what you changed. A OneBump moderator reads it and answers.
On the website: open your server. The notice at the top of the Overview tab has an Ask for a review button. Write what we should know and press Send to a moderator.
Quick answers
Can I hide my bump channel from members?
No. Showing the adverts you receive is your side of the swap. Premium servers can switch receiving off completely instead.
Can I use a script to bump automatically?
No. Scripts, macros and self-bots are not allowed. Premium auto bump is the allowed way to bump without typing.
Can I delete adverts from my bump channel?
Leave them for at least 24 hours. To remove one you object to, use Hide this advert. Up to 5 a week is always fine.
Your next step
Check your own server in ten seconds: type /info server and read the Fair play line.
