What is on my advert? Every part explained

3 min read · Updated

The short version

Your advert is the card OneBump posts in other servers when you bump. From top to bottom it shows your server’s name and icon, a line of facts, your description, your tags, a banner if you have Premium, and four buttons.

An advert from a Premium server. A Free server’s advert is the same without the banner and the 💎 Premium mark.

What is each part?

PartWhat it isHow to change it
Name and iconYour server’s name and picture, as they are in Discord.Change them in Discord. The next bump uses the new ones.
Facts lineYour category, your member count, an 18+ mark if your server is 18+, and a 💎 Premium mark if it has Premium.Pick the category in settings. The member count is Discord’s own.
DescriptionYour own text. 50 to 500 characters, or 1,000 with Premium. At most 14 lines are shown. How to write a good description
TagsUp to 5 keywords in small grey text.Who sees my advert?
BannerA wide picture. Premium only.Colour and banner
ColourThe stripe down the left side.Colour and banner
ButtonsAlways the same four: Join Server, Add OneBump, Report Server, Click4Members and More. They cannot be changed.

What do the four buttons do?

  • Join Server opens your server’s . OneBump makes this invite itself and it never runs out. If someone deletes it, OneBump makes a new one at your next bump.
  • More says why the advert was sent to that server. Moderators there also get a button to hide it.
  • Report Server lets anyone tell OneBump the advert breaks the rules. The server that is reported is never told who reported it.
  • Add OneBump lets someone add OneBump to their own server.

What can never be on an advert?

  • An invite to another server. It is removed. A masked link to one keeps only its words. Everything else you type, formatting and links included, shows as it does in Discord.
  • A ping. Mentions and @everyone show, but notify nobody.
  • A picture from a web address. A banner is always a file you uploaded.

How do I see my own advert?

Type /preview in your server. Only you see it, and nothing is sent. On the website, the Settings tab shows a live preview next to the form.

What can go wrong?

  • The category on my advert is wrong. You have not picked one, so OneBump guessed from your server’s name and description. Pick one in settings.
  • The member count looks old. It is the number Discord gave at the moment of the bump.
  • “There’s no advert to show yet”. Your server has no description. Set OneBump up first.
  • “Your advert looks a little different now”. OneBump says this once to an admin whose description had something adverts do not show: an invite to another server. The small print says what was left out.

Quick answers

Can I remove the Report button from my advert?

No. Every advert has the same four buttons. That is part of what keeps bump channels safe.

Where does the Join button lead?

To your own server, through an invite OneBump made for it. It cannot lead anywhere else.

Your next step

See your own advert the way other servers see it.
