Why does OneBump ask me to tap an animal?

2 min read · Updated

The short version

It is a quick check that a person is bumping and not a script. OneBump shows five animals and names one. Tap that one and your bump goes out. You have 60 seconds, and nothing is used up if you miss it.

Why am I being checked?

Only you can see this

The quick check. The animal changes every time. Only you can see it.

The quick check names one animal: turtle, fox, owl, frog or another. Tap the button with that animal. Your bump is sent straight away.

Why did I get it?

Bumping must be done by a person. Scripts and macros are against the rules. When the timing of your bumps looks like a machine, for example always at the exact same minute, OneBump asks.

The check is asked of you, the person, in whichever server you bump. If the pattern is very clear, the check stays on for you for 14 days, in every server.

Missing the check never costs your server anything. A server is only affected when its own bumps clearly look automated. That is one of the fair play rules.

What if I get it wrong?

What happenedWhat OneBump saysWhat to do
Wrong animal“That one didn’t count”Press Try again for a new one. Your bump has not been used.
More than 60 seconds“That check ran out of time”Press Try again for a new one.
3 misses in a row“You can’t bump for a little while”Wait 1 hour. Other people in the server can still bump.

What about the website?

The website cannot show the check. If you press Bump now there while a check is needed, it says “Bump from Discord for now”. Bump from Discord instead: type /bump and tap the animal. The website button works again when OneBump no longer needs to check you.

What can go wrong?

  • I get it every time. After a very clear pattern, or after 3 misses in a row, the check stays on for you for 14 days. It is one tap each time, and then it stops.
  • I want bumps without typing. That is what auto bump is for. It is the allowed way to automate.
  • I was not the one bumping. The check is shown to the person who typed /bump, and only they can answer it. Nobody else in your server is asked.

Quick answers

Is the quick check a punishment?

No. It is one tap. Your server loses nothing, and the bump goes out as soon as you tap the right animal.

Does failing the check hurt my server?

No. Missing it 3 times in a row pauses you, the person, for 1 hour. Other members can still bump.

Your next step

Want bumps that never need a tap? Auto bump is the allowed way to automate.
