How To Fix: Setup and permissions· 1 minRecorded with the previous version of OneBump, so some screens look different. The written steps below are up to date.
The short version
Find the message OneBump shows you in the lists below and press it. Each one says what the message means and how to fix it. If OneBump says nothing at all, open the status page first.
- The headings are the exact words OneBump uses.
- Most problems are one missing permission in the bump channel.
- A bump that OneBump refuses, or could not hand over, does not start the wait.
On this page
When you type /bump
These answers are posted in the channel, like the “Bumped!” message. Only the human check is private. A member and an admin can get different words for the same problem. Both are listed. Where a heading ends in “…”, the message itself shows a time or a date there.
“Next bump in …”
You may see it as: “Too soon to bump again”
OneBumpAPP
⏳ Next bump in 47 minutes (12:47)
@Sam bumped this server an hour ago. It can be bumped once every 2 hours, by anyone.
A reminder will be posted in #bumps when it’s time.
Skip the wait: with Premium, OneBump bumps for you every hour, and every bump reaches 100% of servers. From $3.99 a month.
What it means
Someone in your server already bumped, and the whole server has to wait: 2 hours on Free, 30 minutes with Premium. The heading says how long is left, so it is different every time. Under it, OneBump says who bumped and where it will post “Time to bump!”.
How to fix it
- Wait for the time shown. It counts down by itself.
- Want to be told? If the message has a Mention me too button, press it. OneBump then mentions you in that reminder. One reminder has room for 10 people.
- If it says another server run by the same people was bumped: a OneBump moderator has linked those servers, and they share one wait. Press What are linked servers? to read more.
“Finish setup first”
You may see it as: “Pick a bump channel first” · “Write a description first” · “This server isn’t set up yet” · “There’s no advert to show yet” · “No bump channel yet” · “No description yet”
OneBumpAPP
⚙️ Finish setup first
Before the first bump I need two things: a channel for adverts, and a few words about your server. It takes about 2 minutes.
What it means
Before the first bump OneBump needs two things: a channel for adverts, and a description of at least 50 characters. One or both are missing. Someone who cannot change settings is told to ask an admin.
How to fix it
- Press Finish setup. A short form opens.
- Pick a channel and write a description.
- Press Submit, then Bump now.
- If only one of the two is missing, the button says Pick a channel or Write description instead, and opens just that.
“Your bump channel was deleted”

Pick a new one, then bump again.
What it means
The channel you chose for adverts no longer exists.
How to fix it
- Press Pick a channel.
- Choose a channel all your members can see.

⚠️ I can’t post in your bump channel yet

Press and hold the channel (right-click on a computer) → Edit Channel → Permissions → add OneBump → turn on Send Messages.
What it means

- Turn on what the message names, for OneBump.
- Go back to the message and press Check again.
On a computer
- Right-click your bump channel in the channel list.

Turn on Read Message History for OneBump in #bumps. I need it to see that adverts stay up.
Don’t want other servers’ adverts in here at all? With Premium you can stop receiving adverts, and this channel stops mattering: you just bump.
Press and hold the channel (right-click on a computer) → Edit Channel → Permissions → add OneBump → turn on Read Message History.
What it means
OneBump cannot read the history of your bump channel, so it cannot see that adverts stay up. It first posts this in your server as a notice, with a date. If the permission is still off 3 days later, bumping pauses until you turn it on.
How to fix it
- Open your bump channel’s permissions (steps below).
- Turn on Create Invite for OneBump.
- Press Check again, or just bump again.
On a computer
- Right-click your bump channel in the channel list.

Press and hold the channel (right-click on a computer) → Edit Channel → Permissions → @everyone → turn on View Channel.

Press and hold the channel (right-click on a computer) → Edit Channel → Permissions → that role → turn on View Channel and Read Message History.
What it means
Half or more of your members are blocked from the bump channel, through a role they have or one by one. So most members cannot see the adverts, even if @everyone can. When it is one role, the message names it.
How to fix it
- Open your bump channel’s permissions.
- Find the role the message names. Turn on View Channel and Create Invite for it, or remove its block.
- Press Check again.
“Your AutoMod is removing adverts”
You may see it as: “This server’s AutoMod is removing adverts”
OneBumpAPP
⚠️ Your AutoMod is removing adverts
I posted adverts in #bumps and this server’s AutoMod took them down. Change the rule so that it skips OneBump or your bump channel. I’ll try again in 20 hours.
Don’t want other servers’ adverts in here at all? With Premium you can stop receiving adverts, and this channel stops mattering: you just bump.
Server Settings → Safety Setup → AutoMod → open the rule → let the OneBump role, or your bump channel, skip it.
What it means
Your server’s AutoMod deleted adverts OneBump posted. OneBump stops sending adverts to that channel for a day at a time, and your server cannot bump until then.
How to fix it
- In Discord, open Server Settings and find AutoMod.
- Open the rule that removes the adverts. Let the OneBump role, or your bump channel, skip that rule.
- Wait for the time in the message, or press Check again.
“That channel can’t be a bump channel”
OneBumpAPP
⚠️ That channel can’t be a bump channel
Adverts can only be posted in an ordinary text channel or an announcement channel. Pick another one.
Don’t want other servers’ adverts in here at all? With Premium you can stop receiving adverts, and this channel stops mattering: you just bump.
What it means
Your bump channel is not a kind of channel adverts can be posted in. It has to be an ordinary text channel or an announcement channel. A forum, a voice channel or a thread will not do.
How to fix it
- Press Pick another channel.
- Choose a text channel or an announcement channel that all your members can see.
“I’m timed out in this server”

OneBumpAPP
⚠️ I’m timed out in this server
My timeout ends in 6 hours. Remove it and I can post again straight away.
Open the member list, press OneBump → Remove Timeout.
What it means
A moderator of your server put OneBump in timeout. A bot in timeout cannot post, so adverts cannot arrive and your server cannot bump.
How to fix it
- Open the member list and find OneBump.
- On a computer, right-click it. On a phone, tap it.
- Choose Remove Timeout. Then press Check again.
“Invites are paused in this server”
OneBumpAPP
🔗 Invites are paused in this server
Nobody can join while invites are paused, so there is nothing to advertise. Turn them back on in Server Settings → Invites, then bump again.

How to fix it
- Open Server Settings, then Invites.
- Turn invites back on.

- Press Check again.
“Auto bump is on”
OneBumpAPP
🔁 Auto bump is on
I bump this server every hour, so /bump is switched off. Next automatic bump in a few minutes.
What it means
This Premium server has auto bump on. OneBump bumps it every hour by itself, so bumping by hand is switched off.
How to fix it
- Nothing needs fixing. Your server is being bumped.
- To bump by hand instead: press Auto bump settings, then Turn auto bump off.

Quick answers
Why is my OneBump bump not working?
Most often OneBump is missing a permission in your bump channel, or your members cannot see that channel. The message it shows names what is missing. In that channel OneBump needs View Channel, Send Messages, Embed Links and Create Invite.
Does a failed bump use up my cooldown?
No. The wait only starts when a bump really goes out.
Is OneBump down?
Check the status page. It shows live whether OneBump is working.
What is “A message for this server’s admins”?
It means OneBump has decided something about the server. Only people with the Manage Server permission can open it, and only they see what it says.
Your next step
Is it OneBump, or is it your server? The status page answers that in one look.
