Moving from the old OneBump: what changed

4 min read · Updated

The short version

You do not have to add OneBump again. Your bump channel, description, colour, Premium time and vote credits came with you, and the bumping rules are the same: every 2 hours, 75% of the servers on OneBump. Two things are worth doing: pick a category, and take Administrator away from OneBump.

  • Same bot, same /bump, same numbers.
  • New: setup inside Discord, categories and tags, blocked words, a Report button with case numbers.
  • OneBump no longer needs Administrator.

It is the same bot in your server. You do not add it again, and /bump works as before.

What came with me?

  • Your server’s settings: bump channel, description, colour, the 18+ switches, auto bump and its note channel, and whether you receive adverts.
  • Your Premium time, to the same end date.
  • Your banner, if it was a picture on Discord or Imgur. A banner that was hosted somewhere else did not come across. Upload it again.
  • Your own numbers: how many times you bumped, your vote credits, and whether you want reminders.
  • Gift links you have not used. An old gift link asks you to log in before it opens.

What is new?

  • Setup inside Discord. /setup now opens a short form inside Discord, and /settings opens every setting there. Before, /setup sent you to the website.
  • Fewer permissions. The old OneBump asked for Administrator. This one asks for seven permissions.
  • Categories and tags. Pick one of 24 categories and up to 5 tags. Servers like yours see your advert first.
  • Blocked words. Choose up to 3 words. Adverts that contain them are not sent to your server.
  • Reports with case numbers. Every advert has More and Report Server buttons. You can follow a report with /cases.
  • New commands. /settings, /vote, /cases, and four right-click actions. /preview is now for everyone. /info server shows this server’s plan, next bump, fair play and stats, and /info user and /info bot are back.
  • Fair-play checks. OneBump checks that servers show the adverts they receive. Read the rules of bumping.
  • A new Billing page. Refund a payment with one button. Pause, move or cancel Premium yourself.

What is gone?

  • Descriptions and banners written by AI. Write your own, or start from an example in Settings.
  • Featured servers. There is no featured list in this version.
  • A free trial. There is none.
  • Buying through Sellix. Premium time bought there was kept. New payments go through Stripe on this website.

What should I do today?

1. Pick a category and tags

Old servers have no category yet, so OneBump guesses one from your description. Check the guess. Type /settings in your server. A menu called “OneBump settings” opens. Only you can see it. Press Category & tags.

🏷️ Category & tags

Servers like yours see your advert first. I work out which ones from your category and tags.

I think this server is 🎮 Gaming, with the tags game-nights. Is that right?

Tags · None yet

Use the name of the game, show or hobby as a tag. “valorant” matches far better than “community”.

Only you can see this

OneBump’s guess for a server with no category. Press Looks right, or pick another one from the menu.

2. Take Administrator away from OneBump

You do not have to. But OneBump only needs seven permissions: View Channels, Send Messages, Embed Links, Create Invite, Read Message History, Use External Emojis and View Audit Log. Do it in this order, so bumping never stops.

On a computer

  1. Open Server Settings, then Roles.
  2. Click the OneBump role, then Permissions.
  3. Turn on the seven permissions: View Channels, Send Messages, Embed Links, Create Invite, Read Message History, Use External Emojis and View Audit Log.
  4. Turn off Administrator. Press Save Changes.
  5. Type /bump when your next bump is due. If OneBump says it cannot post, press Check again after fixing the channel.

On a phone

  1. Tap your server’s name, then Settings, then Roles.
  2. Tap the OneBump role, then Permissions.
  3. Turn on the seven permissions: View Channels, Send Messages, Embed Links, Create Invite, Read Message History, Use External Emojis and View Audit Log.
  4. Turn off Administrator and save.
  5. Type /bump when your next bump is due. If OneBump says it cannot post, fix the channel and press Check again.

Check your bump channel too

If your bump channel is private, or has its own permission settings, OneBump needs the same seven permissions in that channel. Without Create Invite there, OneBump posts a notice, waits 3 days, and then bumping pauses until you turn it on.

What about the website?

  • Log in again. The website has a new login. Press Log in and use Discord.
  • Old links still open. Addresses from the old website lead to the matching new page.
  • Old adverts still work. The Report button on adverts posted before the move still opens a report.

What can go wrong?

  • “I can’t check your bump channel”. OneBump posted this in your server. It needs Create Invite in the bump channel. Read Fix a problem.
  • “Your advert looks a little different now”. Your description had something adverts do not show: an invite to another server. OneBump says this once, to an admin, after a bump. Read what works in a description.
  • My banner is missing. It was hosted outside Discord and Imgur. Upload it again in Settings.
  • A payment from before the move. Questions about it, or a refund request, go to the support server, as the Refund Policy says.

Quick answers

Do I have to add OneBump again?

No. It is the same bot. Your server and its settings came across.

Did my Premium come with me?

Yes. Premium time was carried over to the same end date, whether you paid through Stripe or Sellix.

Did the bump cooldown change?

No. Free servers still bump every 2 hours and reach 75% of the servers on OneBump. Premium servers bump every 30 minutes. What changed is reach: a free bump is sent to 75% of servers, and a Premium bump to 100%.

Why does /setup look different?

/setup now opens a short form inside Discord, and /settings opens every setting there. Almost all of them are on the website too, with a live preview.

Your next step

Check the category OneBump guessed for your server. It decides who sees your advert first.
